Rankings Updates
Posted by ffexchange under RB | Tags: Fantasy Football, Sports, Julius Jones, Dominic Rhodes, Tatum Bell, Kevin Smith, Joseph Addai, Kenton Keith |Dominic Rhodes signed a one year deal with the Colts. This news gives him a considerable boost and Kenton Keith a substantial drop in the rankings. It is unclear how the backup role to Addai will play out, but it looks like Rhodes and Hart will be in the mix. I actually am going to drop Addai a couple spots as well because it looks like he could lose a little playing time as well.
Many thought Julius Jones would be the primary back in Seattle, but reports since my original rankings suggest there will be much more of a committee, so I have dropped Jones some.
On Draft day, many thought Kevin Smith wouldn’t fit in with the Detroit offense, but it has since been reported that Detorit runs the same offense that Smith ran in during college. I have dropped Tatum Bell and increased Kevin Smith’s ranking.
Shaun Alexander, Marvin Harrison, Michael Strahan, and Chad Johnson have all been in the news and should be watched to see how their situations might affect their rankings.

Rhodes stock sure has fallen since he left Indy.
Yeah, he showed a little last year, but a return to Indy could help him as long as Mike Hart doesn’t stand in his way.

I know Rhodes returning to Indy helps his chances at being more productive, but I do not think you should drop Joe Addai too far down the list. He will remain the primary guy and, more importantly, the goal-line guy despite Rhodes’ presence.
No, I just dropped him below Gore and McGahee (rankings are above). Addai’s numbers last year were close to what they were when Rhodes started the year before and I actually think sharing time might help him. I just like the guys that own the jobs outright and I think both McGahee and Gore have better years this year than last year (both had more yards than Addai last year, just fewer TDs)

Interesting, but don’t you think the difference between the Colts’ offense and those of the Ravens’ and 49ers’ makes enough of an argument to keep Addai above those two guys?
Maybe, but consider ‘07 last 8 games played: Addai had 94.7 fantasy points, never topping 80 yds rushing in a game. Gore had 115.8 fantasy points, and McGahee had 99.1 fantasy points and topped 100 yards rushing 4 times. I realized some of these numbers can be argued because Addai saw limited time in his final two games, but he wasn’t strong running in the playoffs either. Gore got over his injuries and put up good numbers in the second half and now Mike Martz wants to make him the focal point of the offense. McGahee is a little harder to argue except that offense has no where to go but up.

By the way, I added your site to my feed reader and blogroll. Great stuff!
Thanks, I have done the same.

Well, I certainly cannot argue with stats. Nice discussion!
